Case Study 1. Seeing a Future with a New Partner

(Future Life Progression)

The Client background

Melanie is a 34 year old Life Coach. She specialises in personal growth and holistic healthcare. Naturally, psychic, she has spent many years on deepening her own conscious awareness, following her spiritual path and learning her life lessons along the way.

She had a break up from a 10 year marriage last year. She lived in France with her ex husband and ran a successful concierge business. She decided to relocate to London in search new beginnings. Although she is still on good terms with her ex-husband and there are no regrets on either side, she still had some reservations and fears about entering a new relationship. She currently finds herself in a new relationship that has been developing over the past three months.

The Consultation:

Melanie wanted to know if she had a future with Dan her current boyfriend. She also wanted to look into how her career as a life coach would develop. She had met Dan a few years ago and was attracted to him though the timing was not right for them. We agreed to look at the next 5 and 10 years and also an alternate future if she was unhappy with what she saw. Her health was generally good though she did suffer from some tiredness.

She had experienced a great deal of change. She lived in a different country, in a different career and was now in a new relationship. The separation from her husband was painful not because it was a shock but because it did provide her with a sense of stability. Her dominant sense was Kinaesthetic and she spoke very much of feeling and sensing. She was a slow and deliberate speaker and disliked being hurried.

I explained what FLP was, agreed the time frames to explore ( a 5 and 10 year timeframe) reinforcing the notion that there was no getting this wrong because all the information she received was the right information and that it would come to her in the right way. I said that it would help her identify if he was the right individual for her and give her more information about her chosen career path. I have known Melanie for some months so a good rapport has already been established. Melanie was comfortable with everything I explained and she was ready to begin our session.

The Session:

I guided Melanie through a head to toe “white light” induction whilst lying down. I paid attention to getting her to breathe deeply and encouraged her to make connection to each of part of her body given that was kinaesthetic. Melanie relaxed into a trance and I then guided her through the 5 and 10 year script to take her into her future.

I asked her to tell me what she sensed at five years. She spoke about a house in the country. She was in the garden it was a summer day that was not too hot. There was a gardener there and she also did some gardening. She talked about the vegetables and in particular she noticed the herbs. Melanie used to be chef so she saw that she could use the herbs in her kitchen. She mentioned that there were also two very young children in the house. I asked her about a male presence or perhaps a husband, she said he was not in the house although she could sense his presence. She said it was definitely a family house. I asked her to notice any other details. She said she felt very relaxed and above all fulfilled. She mentioned she did a lot of cooking. She thought that the house was in France probably somewhere in the middle of the countryside not too far from Paris. I asked her about her work. She said she had a studio in the house and she worked from there. She mainly did workshops and audio materials. All these were produced at home. I asked her if her husband did anything in her business. She mentioned it was her business yet he was hugely supportive of it though he was not a business partner.

I asked her if there was anything else she needed to know. She answered that that was all. I then fast forwarded her to ten years into the future. Melanie mentioned here she saw herself on a stage. She was speaking to a lot of people. It was about her work. She felt very much herself in this environment and very at ease. She said she had developed a way of talking to people and engaging with them that had made her very well known in the self help community. I asked her if her husband was there. She said he was in the audience and that made her feel enormously happy. I asked her if she could see anything else. She said the children were fine yet there was no other information other than her career had gone from strength to strength.

I asked the Melanie of the future to speak to the Melanie in the now and tell her what information would be useful to manifest this future. The Melanie of the future told the Melanie in the present to trust and have faith in her choices. She said she also needed to look after her health and wellbeing as she was going to be very busy! I asked if there was any other information. Melanie mentioned again the need to have trust, faith and persevere on the path that she had started.

I asked Melanie to anchor all the feelings of success and fulfilment into her body by pressing her thumb and index finger together. I advised her to activate this as often as she needed feelings of trust and faith and also to fire them every time she naturally felt trust and faith.

Outcome

I brought Melanie out of trance and then asked her impression of the session. She said that she felt very emotional in a pleasant way and the spine and lower back was energised and there was a tingling feeling flowing around this area. At the beginning of the session she had felt apprehensive and slightly lethargic so this was a good outcome. She said it had given her a lot of hope and that although she could not identify a face in her progression she sensed that her husband was the man she was currently dating. From the session I worked out some affirmations and asked her to meditate on these over the next few weeks.

Case Study 2. Stepping into Personal Power

(Future Life Progression)

Lisa works in the personal development field and specialises in all forms of hypnotherapy and is also a practitioner of NLP, PLP and FLP. She came to the treatment because she was interested in exploring the idea of alternate futures.

Lisa was successful in her field yet felt that her career needed further commitment, progression and consolidation especially with regards to financial security and management of her economic resources. In other areas of her life she felt mostly fulfilled and she was happy with her professional career choice and pathway. Although she was not in a committed relationship she left ready for one. She was curious to explore her potential pathway with a more focused and convinced attitude. Lisa was healthy and was not on any medication. She has made some critical life changes some years ago and felt her life was under more balanced and she was far more aware of certain behavioural triggers.

Lisa’s dominant sense of visual with a close following of kinaesthetic and auditory.

Given that Lisa fully understood what FLP was, we only needed to agree a five year time frame with alternate futures. I reinforced the principle that there was no getting this wrong because all the information would come to her in the right way. Her familiarity with the FLP protocol made Lisa a very good hypnotic subject.

The Session:

I guided Lisa through a head to toe “white light” induction whilst lying down on a coach. This was followed by a magic carpet ride which I adapted to a magic bed given that this session took place in the evening and she was already feeling relaxed and sleepy. She reached a deep level of trance very quickly. I lead Lisa through the crystal tower script to the point of where she had reached the platform and was about to enter the first door into her future in five years time.

First Future.

Lisa walked through the first door and when she oriented herself she commented, (in surprise), that she found that she was surrounded by water. After a pause she said, “Water, I am on water, I can see a skyline - it could be New York.” She mentioned that is was dark with lights. She was close to the water perhaps the ocean. I asked her if there was anyone else with her. She said there was a man with her. She felt very connected to him. She also felt relaxed, playful and sensed a warm and secure feeling about this individual. I asked her what work was she involved in. She said that she was involved in workshops about how people could change their life through empowerment and achievement. I asked her if she could see anything else. She mentioned that she could see a woman with clipboard. This woman was organised and business like. She thought this person was like a super PA, she was very efficient and she took care of the business side of her work. Lisa said that she was involved with a big team of people - somewhat like an extended network of people who came together through their involvement with the energy work with the same message through different modes of delivery. The community involved the media, radio, the internet and TV. I asked her about money and finances as I knew from the consultation that this was an area that concerned her. She mentioned that this was much more under control and she had also other people who dealt with this aspect for her. I asked her if there was anything she wanted to explore before she looked at the second future. She said that felt a need to get on with things and to put into action the things that she had been talking about for so long.

Second Alternate Future

When Lisa stepped back onto the crystal platform she waited a little while before she stepped into the second room. I asked her to tell what she saw or sensed.

“A big ship...a sort of shamanic ship and this ship belongs to different people”

She went on to say that the ship was co-owned. There was some danger being here and she mentioned that there were also pirates. I asked her to provide more details about the ship. She said that many of the people on the ship had decamped from their life and that the ship was run like a kind of cooperative with people trading different skills and abilities to help each other. There were lots of different activities with lots of energy work. I asked if there was anyone there with her. She mentioned that the same man that was present in the first future and he was also involved in the work that she was doing. She felt loved and supported by his presence. She said that life on the ship was fun and exciting yet at the same time dangerous. It was subject to the weather and it was not easy to get resources and food and living there involved a certain amount of insecurity. She said the ship was heading to places like Australia and New Zealand.

I asked her more about the kind of work she was involved in. She said that her work was about helping people overcome their own levels of uncertainty. She said she wanted to remove blocks in limiting beliefs and get people to believe in themselves and their future. I asked her if she needed to understand or explore anything else and she said that she had seen enough. I asked Lisa to step out again onto the crystal platform before she explored her third option.

Third Future

In this future Lisa saw herself in a large country house. This house was surrounded by trees and a remote forest. She mentioned that it was some kind of healing centre and that it was in Europe yet not in the UK. She said that like the ship this space was co-owned jointly with a number of people and that all the people were involved in a healing project. She saw a big dining room and a table and lots of couples around the table. She said that the people who lived here permanently were teaching people and doing healing work. She mentioned that the place had a great feel to it and that it was positioned on sacred lay-lines where there were powerful vortexes of energy. She said that the place was self sufficient. There were farm animals such as pigs and sheep. She mentioned that this was a very creative space with paintings; arts and crafts and that people here were designing jewellery. All the material that was imbued with high energy and that the work was about transforming energy in positive and life affirming ways. I asked her if in this future she travelled much. She said it was though people came to this place to learn skills and to heal. She said that people were happy here engaged in all sorts of communal activities. She saw herself married to the man she identified in the other futures. Her sister was there also with a partner and she was involved in making arts and crafts. She mentioned that people liked to dress up in this space and that her sister was dressed in medieval clothes! I asked her if her was sister was happy to be involved in this way. She said very much so as this made use of the great amount of creativity that she possessed. This house was a training centre and a centre of light. She said there was a large kitchen space where everyone joined in and the food was blessed. She said that the place was full of gratitude. Here everyone genuinely felt part of a community and loved.

Outcome

When Lisa came out of her third future I asked her about the changes that she now need to make for her future to be created in the way that she saw it best. She mentioned the following points:

  1. That she needed to stop being so distracted and be more present
  2. The need to prioritise what was important from these distractions
  3. The need to dedicate time properly to things that she loved and that brought her joy
  4. Not to work with people that let her down and drained her energy
  5. To empower herself with positive and supportive people
  6. Get out her book on past lives
  7. Finish her book on fables and hypnotherapy
  8. Develop the Life Between Life Regression Work
  9. To get rid of clutter and stuff hanging around (not just moving things around). Go round and collect clothes and belongings stored at various places
  10. Get organized financially - organize a spread sheet.

Points 9 and 10 seemed to be the natural priority to get on with immediately. When we reviewed her reading together it seemed that the future all pointed in the same direction yet the amount she focused and organised herself would lead to the best outcome. She also was excited at her third possibility although it brought home the urgency to prepare the steps to create her future in the present.

Case Study 3: Empowerment in Recovery (EYL Toolkit)

Joe is 36 years old with a history of alcohol abuse. He also used prescription drugs to manage a mental health problem. His career was in media and advertising and he worked technically supporting marketing campaigns. He enjoyed his job and was very good at it. The breakdown of his marriage was the trigger that escalated use of prescription drugs and alcohol to levels that endangered his health to create liver damage where he was warned after a hospital detox that continued use of alcohol would be fatal.

Till this point Joe thought he could manage by reducing his alcohol intake yet the medical opinion told him that this if he wanted to live complete abstinence was the only option due to the liver damage. Joe followed a period of rehab and also was under the care of a psychologist who used a largely cognitive approach in treatment. Joe came on the Empower Your Life Course after a period of attending the well being group that emphasized self care relaxation and mindfulness. He felt that after nine months of recovery and adjusting to a live without alcohol that he was ready to think about going back to work albeit in a different environment and perhaps in a different role.

Joe followed the course with an open yet critical mind. It reflected the way that he dealt with things in that if it fitted his model of the world and it made sense to him he was happy to incorporate into his life.

He did all the exercises required and his feedback was that the framework enabled him to consider what he wanted he truly wanted to create. It also gave him tools to cope with difficult emotions and feelings that surfaced during his recovery. He decided that he wanted to go back to web building in a consultancy role and has been helping other members of the group put together business website.

Case Study 4: Empowering a New Business Venture (EYL Toolkit)

Petra is a 4o year old entrepreneur. She has run her own business all her life and been self employed. Personable, direct with a strong work ethic, Petra decided to join the Empower Programme in March 2010 because she felt that she was stuck in her personal life as well as her work. She found herself uninspired, unmotivated to do the simple things about running her business.

By week three she understood that one of the main reasons for her dissatisfaction was that she did not like London and wanted to move to Scotland yet she was concerned how she was going to achieve this given that she had no network in Scotland. She responded particularly well to the remove resistance exercises when she recognized that her own belief system did not support her succeeding in business and despite her hard work ethic at her core she believed that she could not succeed in business.

When this was dismantled she said she felt physically and emotionally lighter. Three weeks after the course was completed she phoned me to book some more sessions as she had unexpectedly been offered a business development position in Scotland. She also recognized that to succeed in this role she needed tom improve her communication skills and her engagement skills as the process also enabled her to understand one of the reasons that she considered herself a failure.

Case Study 5: Resolving Long Term Grief (EFT)

26 year old Martha was a delegate on an EFT weekend training course and a graduate in child psychology. A recent argument with her boyfriend had left her feeling so unsettled that she felt forced to leave the room shortly after the introduction. In the privacy of the adjacent room I found her tearful and reluctant to continue the weekend. Mindful of time constraints, I encouraged her to express all her feelings without analysis whilst I tapped on the points. I then focused on sentences where I noticed an emotional "spike" and applied rounds of EFT to release the charge. This calmed her down so she was able to link her current distress to her sister's untimely death. We applied EFT on various statements that best summarised her unresolved grief until her distress subsided. Martha waited a few moments to compose her and then decided to rejoin the group. She completed the training without further emotional upset and reported to feeling calmer about her recent disagreement and more accepting of her sister's death.

Case Study 6: Pain Free (EFT)

Julia was a 35 year old project administrator. She had been suffering from chronic back ache for two years. Partial relief has been achieved through conventional and alternative approaches and was now looking for a more permanent solution. During the first consultation we worked directly on the back pain describing the precise feelings, the exact location and the intensity of the pain. After two rounds of EFT the pain had subsided so I asked her if she could think of any emotional components that might be linked to the back pain. She immediately talked at length about a violent and abusive childhood. As she talked I tapped on all the points without pausing to encourage the flow of the story whilst releasing distress. I applied rounds of EFT on specific sentences that carried a high emotional resonance checking on the intensity level in each instance until she was able to integrate these sentences back into her story without distress. We concluded the session with a chi kung posture and visualisation to ground the energy and sustain the water energy of the kidney and bladder meridian. To date her back has remained pain free.

Case Study 7: Being Authentic (EFT)

Simona was a 30 year old software programmer who headed a major project with a media organisation. She was naturally a highly articulate, focused and enthusiastic worker yet she had been feeling stuck and unmotivated with her life for several months. This left her unable to make simple decisions. I encouraged her to draw up a mind map all the things that made her feel joyous and happy. In essence, Simona was musical, creative and a problem solver. None of her skills were being utilised in her current job and she felt that outside obligations and prevented her from making the best use of her personal time. It also emerged that despite being singled out during childhood to attend a school for gifted children that she "felt stupid." After clearing this feeling to a zero rating on a Subject Level of Distress (SUD) we also applied EFT to a specific event from school where she had been humiliated and made to feel stupid. This work released a great deal of energy around her confidence in her own intelligence and she reported that she felt more authentic and had regained her confidence to trust her decision making processes. Within two months she had changed her job and joined a choir.
